Introduction

Over the years, I’ve posted a number of photo albums to the CP Facebook Group Site. Here are my notes on how these photos have been organized and indexed.

How to locate the photo albums on the CPC FB Group site.

When you access the CPC FB Group site, you’ll find these tabs at the top of the page:

About Discussion Topics Members Events Media Files

To locate the photo albums, drill down as follows:
Media -> Albums

You should now be at the main page for albums, which lists each album by title along with the number of photos in said album.

You can access the photos in the album by clicking on the name of the album you’re interested in.

Map of keywords to photo album names.

These are the first albums I created back in 2008.

Here’s a map (aka dictionary) of the album names. On the right, there’s the full album name. On the left, there’s a key that I use in each photo to id the album. So, directors stands for Circle Pines Directors

album_map = {
    ‘directors’: ‘Circle Pines Directors’,
    ‘bill_knox’: ‘Bill Knox’,
    ‘groups_38_66’: ‘Groups_1938_1966’,
    ‘groups_67_88’: ‘Groups_1967_1988’,
‘pete_bill_phil’: ‘Pete, Big Bill, and Phil’,
    ‘still_life_38_98’: ‘CPC Still Life 1938-1998’,
    ‘people_38_98’: ‘Classic People 1938 – 1998’,
    ‘reunion_88’: ‘CPC 50th Reunion in 1988’,
    ‘reunion_98’: ‘CPC 60th Reunion in 1998’
}

Count of the photos that have been posted in albums so far.

Here’s a count of the photos in the albums I’ve posted to the CPC FB Group. In total, there are 1,097 photos, but are some duplicates in that the same photo appears in more than one album. Also, I have collected a fairly large number of other CPC photos, but I haven’t organized them into albums, yet.

Index for all people and for an individual person.

I have a list that associates the name of a person with the photos I have of that person. For example, here’s one item on that list for Lisa Tanenbaum. This item has her name and a list of photos I have for her.

[
    “Lisa Tanenbaum”, [
        “directors_000.jpg”,
        “people_38_98_001.jpg”,
        “people_38_98_218.jpg”,
        “reunion_88_025.jpg”,
        “reunion_88_126.jpg”,
        “reunion_88_127.jpg”,
        “reunion_88_165.jpg”,
        “reunion_88_168.jpg”,
        “groups_67_88_015.jpg”,
        “groups_67_88_016.jpg”

Album/Photo Identifiers

Each photo of Lisa above has an identifier such as reunion_88_165.

This would stand for the 165th photo in the album CPC 50th Reunion in 1988.

Other albums submitted to me since 2008

I have posted some other albums that have been submitted to me so I could turn them into an album. However, I haven’t gone through all the photos in these albums to compile a list of which person is in which photo. This is on my ToDo list for building a CPC photo database.

List of the other photo albums that I have created.

When people sent me batches of photos for posting to the CPC FB Group site, I create one or more photo albums from the photos they send me. Here’s a list of the photo albums that have been created this way.

Beverly Packham-Bauer is Bev
Mara Gendell is Mara

The other names are self-evident:
Ruth Cliffer Greenthal
Vivien Alsberg Beirne

Laurie Tanenbaum submitted the photos taken by her father, Leo Tanenbaum.

How to get an index of the photo albums I’ve indexed.

If you would like to download the entire album_map_person_photo_list, do this.

At the top of CPC FB Group page, find these tabs:
About Discussion Topics Members Events Media Files

If you click on Files, you’ll get a list of file items.

One item I stored there is this one:

album_map_person_photo_list_2018-06-09.txt

Essentially, it consists of two items:

  1. an album_map, which is the dictionary I discussed above.
  2. person_photo_list, which is a list of CPCers who appear in photos.

For each person in this list, there’s a list of jpeg file names of the photos they appear in.

In my comment above, there’s an example of the files I have for Lisa Tanenbaum.

In total, there are 474 unique names in the person_photo_list. Lisa Tanenbaum, for example, is one of 474 people in the list.
